IPL 2023
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 promises to be a thrilling affair for cricket fans as it returns to the popular home-and-away format. With 10 teams participating, a total of 74 matches will be played across various venues, making it a truly national event.
The tournament structure will comprise a group stage followed by playoffs, similar to the format used in 2019. The last three IPL seasons had to make several modifications due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to restore the popular format this year.

Each team will play 14 matches in the group stage, facing each of the other teams in their group twice and four teams in the other group once. The IPL Points Table system will be used to determine team standings. A win will earn a team two points, while a draw or no result will award both teams one point.
The playoffs will consist of four games using the Page playoff system. The top two teams will play in the 1st qualifier, while the 3rd and 4th-placed teams compete in the Eliminator. The loser of the 1st qualifier will play the winner of the Eliminator in the 2nd qualifier, and the winners of the 1st two qualifiers will play the final.
In the playoffs/final, if a super over or subsequent super overs can’t be completed due to some reason, the team that finished higher in the league will be declared the winner in the playoffs/final.
The new format introduced in IPL 2023, where each team plays seven games at their home ground and seven games at their opponent’s home ground, will test the skills and adaptability of players in unfamiliar conditions, making the tournament even more thrilling and unpredictable.
